Introduction to Yangling Area of China (Shaanxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone
Yangling Area of China (Shaanxi) Pilot Free Trade Zone (hereafter referred to as Yangling Area) is the only free trade zone in China with a special focus on agricultural development.
Yangling Area is located in the Shaanxi Yangling Demonstration Zone and covers a total area of 5.76 km2. It borders Xinqiao Road in the east, Chengnan Road, Binhe Road and Hedi Road in the South, Minle Road in the west, and Xingping Road, Yong’an Road, Xilan High-speed Railway (Yangling Section) in the north.
Yangling Area is designed to be a center for “Belt and Road” international cooperation in modern agriculture and a world famous city of agricultural technology innovation. It focuses on the innovation, demonstration and promotion of agricultural technologies and aims to strengthen international agricultural cooperation and exchanges and facilitate trade in this field.
As an import effort to promote “Belt and Road” agricultural opening-up and cooperation and to implement the strategy of the development of the West Regions, Yangling Area is designed to have four functional areas including comprehensive bonded area, international commerce area, processing trade area and financial innovation area, plus a center for international agricultural technology cooperation and exchanges. Near Yangling Area there will be supporting infrastructure and facilities such as modern agricultural cooperation park, plants and animals supervision and quarantine area and international agricultural tourism and leisure area. Effort will be made to develop bioindustry, agro-processing, rural finance and rural services and cultivate an export-oriented agricultural development cluster.
Yangling Area is expected to become a center for international cooperation in modern agriculture and a world famous city of agricultural technology innovation in three years’ time. It will be a first class international free trade zone with distinctive advantages in agriculture which features investment liberalization, trade facilitation, internationalized financial services, supervision innovation, and sound legal environment.
