On 22nd October the opening ceremony of international students 2018 was held in the meeting room of Animal Engineering Department in west campus. Party Secretary Zhao Man, President Wang Zhousuo, Vice President Zhang Yongliang, Administration division head Zhu Zhanbin, Academic affairs division head Zhang Honghui, Kazakhstan Integration Foundation Representative Li Qian, leaders from international affairs division, student affairs division, bioengineering department, 18 international students from Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and some teachers and students from bioengineering department attended the ceremony.
President Wang greeted students in Russian and received warm applause from international students. He then expressed warm welcome to 18 international students on behalf of over 20,000 faculty members and Chinese students and gave a brief introduction of the college’s history and current status. He said that international interchange on education was highly valued by the college. In recent years, the college has accomplished a series of international projects, for instance, oversea teachers training, oversea employment of students, “One Belt, One Road” technical training to officers of developing countries, etc. President Wang expressed his expectation that every student would enjoy study and campus life, meanwhile, abide by Chinese laws and school regulations; always keep close contact with teachers. He hoped every student, as a member of the college’s first international class, would achieve good result in study and become disseminators of Chinese culture, participants and constructors of “One Belt, One Road”.
Vice President Zhang Yongliang introduced scholarship policy. Students, who accomplished one academic year, are eligible to apply President Scholarship and Excellent Student Scholarship. Those who are well behaved and excellent with academic performance would be awarded the scholarship.
Li Qian, representative of the Foundation expressed sincere gratitude to the college and cordial welcome to all international students. As the referrer for 12 of the students, Li Qian, representing the Foundation and their parents, expressed heartfelt thanks to the college for providing scholarship, superior learning and living environment for students. She asked all the students to cherish the chance and hoped that after graduation they would contributed to their countries' development with youth, wisdom and power.
Duisebek Miras and Borodina Elenora made speeches as students representatives. In remarks they mentioned that the college provided them with not only warm reception but excellent learning and living facilities. They would do the best on Chinese language and specialties and get to know more about Chinese culture and customs during their school time.
As a part of the ceremony, 18 international students signed the Study Commitment Letter and Safety Commitment Letter. Then Party Secretary Zhao Man, President Wang and Vice President Zhang gave Chinese textbooks to every student as gifts.
Recruiting international students is a part of the college’s strategy of participating in “One Belt, One Road” national plan. With this new impetus, the educational internationalization process and the competitiveness of the college would meet a predictable acceleration. Among 18 international students, 12 study three-year Agricultural Biotechnology course while the other 6 study one-year Chinese Language course. In this first semester, the courses are same for all students, including Elementary reading and writing, Elementary listening, Elementary comprehensive Chinese, Elementary Oral Chinese and HSK1.
